The New Year has brought uncertainty in the form of the government shutdown.
Moving forward, here are our predictions for 2019:
- Increased aggressive collections by IRS (the shutdown will fuel more aggressive collection efforts, and overwhelm the departments that typically assist taxpayers. It will take increased experience and good reputation to effectively assist taxpayers.
- The new tax laws will cause surprise tax debts for many. These people will need tax resolution help. Union workers and others that normally deduct unreimbursed business expenses will be greatly affected.
- Section 199A deductions for businesses need to be calculated correctly, or those returns will be audited.
- The new tax return has MANY attachments. Taxpayers will experience delay in their return processing because of the increased number of pages for many taxpayers’ returns.
